WebNov 30, 2011 · Damn, looks like I might have to sell my F-150. Was underneath it a couple days ago removing sole old wiring and an oil cooler and saw that the frame had cracked by the steering box (where they sometimes do) and instead of fixin it correctly by bolting on fishplates and welding top and bottom, whoever "fixed" it put a BIG *nasty!* snot weld on it.

Having read up on this, I found that it is a common problem on F150's from this era. So I stopped and got out, turned the wheel a few times and noticed a pretty decent sized movement in the metal, in the wheel well right where the steering box would be. short mythological stories in englishWebOct 11, 2008 · The crack goes from the middle of the frame forward, between the 2 pairs of bolts holding the steering box to the frame, and downward, so the crack actually seperates the frame at the front. The crack isn't near the front shackle mount, so that's not a concern, and I do plan to make a notch and weld it at the back of the crack to prevent it ... short mystery story examples
