WebFeb 14, 2010 · Discussion Starter · #1 · Jan 24, 2010 Lately my wife's 2007 FJ Cruiser (delivered March of 2006) with only 38,000 miles is start to be slow to start. It turns just like normal, but doesn't fire off right away. Being that the battery was 4 years old, I replaced it today. I replaced the spark plugs at 30,000 miles. What am I missing? WebFeb 11, 2007 · A couple things to consider. If it's cold, the oil might not flow as well on initital start up when it's warm, so it will be slower to reach the top of the motor. If the oil filter doesn't have an anti-drainback valve, the oil filter will have to fill up with oil, before the top of the motor gets its supply.

In this case the engine is being told to idle high by an idle air control valve (fuel injected engine) or fast idle screw (carburated engine). When the vehicle starts to warm up the idle will decrease nicely to between 600 and 900 rpm. WebBattery's don't work well in that cold. Your battery is probably toast. Voltage is not the only thing that indicates a good battery. It can have high voltage (yours does not) but low amp's. I'd warrant that you would probably have less than 200 amps (should be around 700)
