WebbAbstract. This article outlines common psychodynamics in psychosis. We consider psychosis as a response to unbearable aspects of reality and illustrate how psychodynamic concepts of psychological defence can be used as a framework for understanding this. Webba patient’s psychodynamics “go without saying.” Our concern here is that if the formulation is never actually constructed and recorded, the patient’s psy-chodynamics will remain mysterious, ambiguous, and all encompassing.
